The book has large pictures and graphics that help draw and keep a kids interest and has a decent amount of detail about the most popular birds. It does not have EVERY kind of bird in our are (Michigan) but has the ones kids will most likely be excited about. It also doesn't have much detail on the less popular birds. This is the only reason I took a star away. I suspect this is true for pretty much all of the bird books targeted towards kids though. A good starter book to get kids interested in bird watching. I may get another book geared more towards serious bird watchers and that specializes in my area but I didn't expect all this from a book for kids.
Purchased along with ThinkPeak 8x21 binoculars for kids, hoping to teach my granddaughter some birds, and share the love of birdwatching. A great surprise to find the book so amazingly easy to use, learning interesting new things and good tips on identifying birds. The format is learning friendly, the pictures are beautiful, tips & wonderful insights about the different birds make the book a house favorite. Had to buy multiple copies since we all use them inside and take them along on walks or hanging around outside. Oh, and crafts in the back. Made the feeder & a bird bath - really fun projects.Well done Nat Geo, well done! Compliments to Jonathan Alderfer on a wonderful 2nd Edition.
Cute book, easy to read but I think it fell short of my expectations. It’s supposed to be North American birds yet several pages have birds from other countries. I would have liked to see more info on only North American birds
Great book, got for my nieces and nephews. They love it.
My son wants to be an ornithologist when he grows up. We got him this book and he loves it! He read a lot of it on a long car ride and learned a lot!
My 9 year old grandson loves it!
My youngest takes this field guide out with him to bird watch in our backyard and on our hiking adventures. Loaded with information and beautiful detailed colored illustrations and photographs.
